Professor Issam Frika, Director General of the National Blood Agency, has called for shifting blood donation from seasonal campaigns to a consistent social commitment. He emphasized that blood donation is a cornerstone of the healthcare system, vital for helping patients requiring surgery, those with chronic illnesses, and victims of traffic accidents. In 2023, Algeria recorded approximately 740,000 donations. Professor Frika highlighted the role of corporate social responsibility, urging institutions to organize regular donation initiatives among employees to ensure hospitals have sufficient stocks. He stressed that regular donation is crucial to move beyond emergency-based responses and to foster a sustainable culture of saving lives.
