A recent investigative report has exposed the use of US-manufactured 'Taser' weapons, produced by the company Axon, by occupation forces to torture Palestinian prisoners. Eyewitness accounts, including that of an amputee detainee, detail instances of inmates being subjected to electric shocks, sometimes after being doused with water to increase the severity of the torture. Former detainees describe suffering long-term health issues as a result of these interventions. Since October 2023, 92 Palestinians have reportedly died while in custody. Despite the documented evidence linking these weapons to systematic abuse and the continued supply of such equipment by the American manufacturer, accountability remains largely absent. International human rights organizations are now calling for these law enforcement tools to be strictly regulated under international arms trade treaties.
