Minister of Agriculture Sid Ali Khaldi and the Governor of Adrar, Fodil Douifi, inspected the massive 'Baladna El Djazaïr' agro-industrial complex. Spanning 219,000 hectares, the project is 80% complete in terms of engineering. By housing 200,000 cattle and producing 1.7 billion liters of milk annually, the initiative aims to cut import costs by $1.5 billion per year. The project prioritizes local industry, with 69% of contracts awarded to Algerian companies, and is expected to create over 20,000 jobs. The first cattle imports are scheduled for November 30, 2026, followed by liquid milk production in December 2027 and powdered milk production by January 2028.
