Mila: Stepped-up inspections to regulate fruit and vegetable prices

The Mila Trade Directorate, in collaboration with security forces, has intensified field inspections across wholesale and retail markets to ensure market stability. These efforts focus on maintaining the supply of essential commodities, particularly potatoes, which have a reference price ceiling of 90 dinars per kilogram. Inspections are currently targeting key locations, such as the Oued Athmania wholesale market, to monitor commercial practices and compliance. Simultaneously, authorities have launched an awareness campaign involving agricultural stakeholders and security services to educate merchants on the joint ministerial decree of October 2024, which sets technical standards for displaying 11 types of fresh produce. Mila has been selected as a model wilaya to implement these regulatory measures, aimed at protecting consumer purchasing power and ensuring food safety.
