Algeria launches "Albal 2026" campaign to assess coastal fish stocks

The scientific vessel "Grine Belkacem" has embarked on its 38th mission since 2011, marking the start of the national "Albal 2026" campaign. Managed by the National Center for Research and Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture, this initiative focuses on updating data regarding pelagic fish resources along the Algerian coastline. Led by researcher Azzedine Bennoui, a team of experts is conducting a survey starting from the eastern coast before moving westward to gather precise data for sustainable resource management. The 40-meter research vessel, capable of staying at sea for up to 30 days with 25 people on board, plays a vital role in protecting marine ecosystems and ensuring the rational use of aquatic wealth through advanced scientific analysis.
