Parliament to hold extraordinary session on overseas deployment of the national army
The Algerian Parliament will convene in two separate sessions on Sunday, in accordance with Article 91 of the Constitution, to address the president's decision to deploy units of the National People's Army abroad. This constitutional move requires the approval of a two-thirds majority in both the National People's Assembly and the Council of the Nation. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will represent the government during the proceedings. A document distributed to parliamentary group leaders clarifies the legal and security framework for this deployment, emphasizing Algeria's commitment to international peace, national sovereignty, and the need to address regional security challenges and cross-border threats.
