Concluding the international days on infectious diseases in Batna, medical specialists highlighted the significant health risks associated with the excessive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics. Experts warned that consuming these drugs without a prescription leads to the development of drug-resistant bacteria, complicates the management of simple infections, and extends recovery times. Professionals from the Pasteur Institute and cancer treatment centers stressed that improper use endangers public health by reducing the effectiveness of treatments. The three-day event facilitated knowledge sharing among experts from Algeria, France, and Tunisia, and included training workshops for medical students and general practitioners.
