UN commends Algeria's climate commitment

The Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life received a correspondence from Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This follows Algeria's submission of its nationally determined contribution to the UN secretariat in June 2026, as part of its adherence to the Paris Agreement. Stiell praised Algeria's international climate commitments and the ambitious nature of its contribution, specifically the goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2035. The UN also highlighted the national long-term vision extending to 2050, designed to support the transition toward low-carbon development and improve resilience against climate-related challenges, reinforcing the significance of national efforts in meeting international sustainability goals.
