The Algerian education sector has undergone a significant reform following a new executive decree that mandates the integration of students with disabilities into mainstream schools. This long-awaited initiative aims to ensure equal opportunities by allowing students to be fully integrated into regular classrooms or partially into specialized units overseen by the Ministry of National Solidarity. The decree outlines strict enrollment procedures and class sizes based on the type of disability, including physical, sensory, mild cognitive impairments, or autism. The law guarantees specialized pedagogical support and adapted curricula. Furthermore, it introduces 'reasonable accommodation measures' to enable these students to sit for official examinations and competitive assessments under fair and appropriate conditions.
