Five-year prison sentence for deadly stabbing following failed drug deal in Chararba

The Dar El Beïda Criminal Court has handed down a five-year prison sentence to a 38-year-old repeat offender involved in the killing of his friend in the 917-housing complex in Chararba, Eucalyptus. The incident occurred on the night of November 12, 2025, during a violent brawl involving bladed weapons, sparked by a dispute over a narcotics deal. The victim died shortly after being transported to the hospital. During the trial, the defendant claimed he acted in self-defense after being assaulted. While the prosecution requested the death penalty, the court found the defendant guilty of intentional assault and battery leading to death without the intent to kill.
