Algeria sets 2028 deadline for first fully locally-made car

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has announced that Algeria aims to produce its first fully locally-manufactured car by the end of 2028. Speaking to business leaders in Algiers, the President stated that the vehicle, including its engine and chassis, should be manufactured domestically. This project represents a shift away from traditional assembly practices toward a more integrated industrial chain. During the meeting, the President highlighted Algeria's economic progress, noting that it now ranks as the third-largest economy in Africa. He also reiterated the state's commitment to social welfare while encouraging honest entrepreneurs to continue driving the country's industrial development.
