Moscow is set to host the 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) from October 25 to 27. The event takes place amidst global energy uncertainties, geopolitical challenges, and rising demand for natural gas. The discussions will be guided by the Algiers Declaration, the GECF’s reference document, which emphasizes the sovereign rights of member states over their gas resources and the necessity of producer-consumer dialogue to ensure energy security. The summit will also highlight support for nations battling energy poverty and reiterate opposition to unilateral economic restrictions. According to the GECF’s "Global Gas Outlook 2055," global demand is projected to rise by 30%, reaching 5,417 billion cubic meters by 2055. The 12 member countries of the GECF, which hold approximately 70% of the world’s proven gas reserves, will focus on the fundamental role of natural gas in the global energy system and the importance of continued investment in the sector.
