Djanet’s International Rock Art Festival Promotes Cultural Tourism
Abdelkader Hafaoui, director of the Tassili n’Ajjer Cultural Park, has highlighted the impact of the International Rock Art Festival in Djanet on promoting Algeria as a prime tourist destination. Held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the event aligns with the launch of the new tourism season, creating employment and business opportunities for local communities. The Tassili n’Ajjer park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982, features globally renowned locations such as the 'Crying Cow' at Tigharghart, Séfar, and the Oued Djerat engravings. With an anticipated influx of up to 20,000 visitors this season, exceeding the previous record of 17,000, authorities are working closely with tourism agencies to streamline permit processes and organize circuits across Djanet and Illizi.
