Travel agency owners arrested for 11 billion centimes visa scam

Police services in Algiers, specifically the major crimes unit of the El Biar district, have arrested two individuals managing a travel agency for their involvement in a large-scale fraud operation. The suspects deceived citizens by promising them courtesy visas for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages in exchange for significant sums of money. Following multiple complaints, authorities launched an investigation that led to the identification and capture of the perpetrators. Investigations revealed that 64 victims were swindled out of a total amount of 11 billion and 365 million centimes. The suspects have been referred to the public prosecutor at the Bir Mourad Raïs court to face legal proceedings.
