Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Aziz Derouaz, emphasized the need for a collective effort to restore Algerian sports to the forefront through a comprehensive professional project starting from grassroots development. Reflecting on his career, Derouaz attributed the historic successes of the handball team in the 1980s, which included five consecutive African titles and a Mediterranean Games gold medal, to strict discipline and his pioneering 'offensive defense' theory. Administratively, he expressed regret over the cancellation of the football professionalization project he initiated during his tenure. He also clarified that his relationship with Rabah Madjer is good, noting that past disputes were about legal procedures rather than personal issues. Additionally, he highlighted Algeria's pivotal role in supporting Sepp Blatter's FIFA presidency and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the late President Liamine Zeroual and President Tebboune, especially during the Oran Mediterranean Games.
