Batna's Wali, Riadh Benahmed, has confirmed plans to redevelop the Tazoult lake area into a recreational destination for locals and visitors. Authorities are commissioning a comprehensive study to determine rehabilitation costs and integrate the project into the province's development agenda. The three-hectare site, perched at an altitude of 1,200 meters, previously served as a youth camp until its closure in 1993, followed by a period of degradation. Situated near cedar and Aleppo pine forests, the area is known for its natural beauty and birdlife, which has been bolstered by local efforts to reconnect the lake with the Tafrent river to revitalize the ecosystem.
