Mostaganem Port to Focus Exclusively on Public Sector Imports
Algeria is moving forward with the plan to reserve the port of Mostaganem solely for public sector import operations, following a decision by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The port authority has set October 31 as the deadline for private operators to shift their traffic. While a grace period until December 31 is granted for pre-existing commercial contracts, the port will be fully restricted to public entities starting January 1, 2027. Additionally, passenger transport services handled by self-employed entrepreneurs must be relocated to other ports by the end of October. These measures are part of a national strategy to modernize port infrastructure, enhance cargo handling efficiency, and minimize ship turnaround times.
