Algeria and South Africa move to strengthen strategic partnership

During a ministerial meeting in Algiers, Minister of State Ahmed Attaf and South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola discussed strategies to deepen their bilateral cooperation. Following the 7th session of the Joint Cooperation Commission held in late 2024, the discussions aimed to convert shared political values into tangible economic outcomes. Attaf emphasized that the historical ties between both nations serve as a foundation to boost trade, cross-border investments, and logistics, including sea and air transport. The two countries committed to reinforcing their coordination within the UN and the African Union regarding international issues, including the Palestinian cause and Western Sahara. Furthermore, the partnership is set to expand into key sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, artificial intelligence, and scientific research to foster sustainable growth.
