President Tebboune highlights Algeria's economic achievements and future goals

In his annual address to economic operators, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that Algeria's economic growth rate has reached 3.9%, establishing the country as the third-largest economy in Africa. The President highlighted the shift in local production, noting that after importing $750 million worth of ketchup and mayonnaise in 2017, the country is now an exporter of these goods. He further noted that domestic pharmaceutical production has risen from 10% to 84% of national needs over the past five years. Regarding energy, Algeria has ceased gasoline imports since 2023 and is now exporting kerosene. Looking ahead, Tebboune announced plans to manufacture a fully Algerian car by the end of 2028, while warning against unethical business practices.
