Algerian Sahara Blend leads Arab crude prices in OPEC basket

In September 2026, Algerian Sahara Blend saw a significant price surge, nearly reaching the $120 mark per barrel. The average price rose to $118.49, up from $94.32 in August, representing a 26% monthly increase. This performance places the Algerian grade at the top of the Arab crudes within the OPEC reference basket, outperforming oil from Libya, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. The hike reflects a broader upward trend in global markets, as the average OPEC basket price climbed 28% to $110.59, while both Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) benchmarks rose by 16%.
