The Ministry of Public Works has issued a statement clarifying the funding of the railway project connecting Laghouat to Tamanrasset, rejecting claims that Algeria has abandoned financing from the Islamic Development Bank. The ministry explained that the project is divided into two sections: the first, from Laghouat to El-Menia (495 km), is funded by the African Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The second section, spanning from El-Menia to Tamanrasset via In Salah (1,080 km), is fully covered by the state budget. The ministry reaffirmed its ongoing cooperation with international financial institutions and urged media outlets to rely solely on official sources to ensure the accuracy of information.
