Trappes terror attack: Abdallah Zekri and the CFCM condemn rise of anti-Muslim hatred
A deadly attack in the French towns of Trappes and La Verrière has left one person dead and several injured, including a 12-year-old girl who remains in critical condition after being shot eight times. Abdallah Zekri, head of the National Observatory Against Islamophobia, condemned the incident as a probable Islamophobic terror attack. He attributed the violence to a toxic climate driven by specific media outlets and political rhetoric from figures such as Eric Zemmour and Jordan Bardella, warning that such discourse risks pushing the country toward civil war. The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) also issued a strongly-worded statement, asserting that those who propagate anti-Muslim hate speech have blood on their hands. The institution reiterated its frequent warnings about how the stigmatization of Muslims and the use of scapegoating in public debate can lead directly to real-world violence.
