The Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) in El Tarf has successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in smuggling migrants across the sea. Five members of the gang, all from local municipalities, were arrested. The intervention follows an investigation launched after the interception of an illegal migration attempt involving nine people, conducted in coordination with the El Kala coast guard. Authorities seized a boat, a 75-horsepower engine, navigation equipment, and mobile phones used in the illicit activity. The suspects have been brought before the public prosecutor at the El Kala court to face charges of organizing illegal departures for financial gain.
