Imported meat: President Tebboune orders probe into market manipulation

During the Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, October 18, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered investigations into the practices of certain meat importers. Although the state implemented tax and customs incentives to lower the price of red meat, costs remain high and comparable to local products due to monopolistic behaviors. The President instructed the Prime Minister to probe the role of these importers in creating monopolies and the significant price variations between different regions. Furthermore, the head of state requested the drafting of regulations to strictly oversee intermediaries and combat speculation on essential goods.
