The Ministry of Foreign Trade is set to hold the first National Dates Exhibition in Biskra from October 29 to 31, focused on quality and export prospects. With an annual production of 1.3 million tons, Algeria ranks third globally in the sector. The event aims to highlight producers' capabilities and facilitate international market expansion. This follows strict government measures ordered by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to curb undervaluing exports and illicit currency transfers. New regulations now enforce reference prices between $0.80 and $2.50 per kilogram, along with mandatory phytosanitary certifications. These steps seek to protect the industry, which already benefits from substantial state support, and ensure that export revenues are properly repatriated.
