The African and Arab Weightlifting Championships, held at the "Colonel Ferradj" sports complex in Mostaganem, concluded with a significant achievement for Algeria, amassing 122 medals in total, including 47 gold, 22 silver, and 53 bronze. The national team secured 68 medals in the Arab championship and 54 in the African tournament. Throughout the event, which took place from October 5 to 12 with 340 athletes from 29 countries participating, Algerian weightlifters stood out, such as Amina Yahia Mamoun with 9 gold medals, Lamis Driss with 6, and Slim Anas with 3. While Egypt led the overall African standings, Algeria clinched the Arab senior team title. The championships highlighted both the individual excellence of the athletes and the organizational capabilities of Mostaganem.
