Djanet hosts the inaugural International Rock Art Festival

The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, inaugurated the first edition of the International Rock Art Festival in Djanet on Tuesday, an event running until October 24. The proceedings began with an exhibition at the 'Jebrine' museum, showcasing the development of rock art within the Tassili n'Ajjer, Hoggar, and other UNESCO-listed sites. The festival brings together 15 international experts from 12 countries alongside 85 Algerian representatives. Through scientific seminars, archaeological film screenings, forums on site protection, and artist residencies, the initiative seeks to promote the study and preservation of this national heritage. The goal is to establish an annual platform for exchanging expertise and advancing sustainable cultural tourism, underscoring Algeria's commitment to safeguarding its historical and human legacy for future generations.
