Oran: Showcasing success in saffron cultivation and future prospects
A seminar held in Oran focused on the discovery and promotion of saffron cultivation, highlighting the contributions of rural women. The "Hand in Hand" association noted that the first experiments in the region began in 2013 at a farm in Aïn-El Kerma, yielding positive results. The association aims to expand plantation areas and establish a cooperative to facilitate product marketing, noting that saffron farming requires minimal investment. Professor Asma Belaskri from the University of Oran 1 emphasized the importance of professional training in both production and digital marketing to support growers. Plans were also announced to create a support network for producers. Agricultural experts provided insights into cultivation techniques and addressed the various challenges faced by farmers.
