Deadly racist attack strikes Trappes and La Verrière in France
A deadly shooting rampage in the French towns of Trappes and La Verrière has left one person of African descent dead and four others wounded, including a 12-year-old child and an individual of North African origin in critical condition. The perpetrator, a 39-year-old man, fired randomly into crowds from his vehicle. Local authorities, including Mayor Ali Rabeh, confirmed the suspect's intent to cause mass casualties. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation, classifying the incident as a racist terror attack. Political figures have condemned the tragedy, linking the violence to persistent anti-immigrant rhetoric and the current climate of social tension within France.
