The Dar El Beïda Criminal Court has issued harsh verdicts against an international organized crime network involved in a massive drug trafficking operation in the capital. Five defendants were sentenced to death, including two who were present and three who remain at large. The case, which dates back to August 2025, involved the smuggling and distribution of over 230,000 ecstasy pills and quantities of cocaine. Security forces intercepted the network's operations, leading to the seizure of large sums of money, vehicles used for transport, and narcotics. The suspects faced charges including illegal importation, money laundering, and organized smuggling, all of which pose a direct threat to public security and health.
