Liquefied Natural Gas: Algeria remains a top 5 supplier to the European Union
Algeria maintained its rank among the top five liquefied natural gas (LNG) suppliers to the European Union during the third quarter of 2026. During this period, Algeria exported 890,000 tons of LNG, representing a 45% decrease compared to the previous year. These figures, which focus exclusively on shipments via LNG carriers and exclude pipeline gas, reflect a market share of 4.4%. Overall, European LNG imports declined by 13.5% during the third quarter. The United States continues to lead as the primary supplier, followed by Russia, Nigeria, and Norway, while Qatar dropped out of the top five due to maritime navigation disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
