Online banking fraud: Algerian police issue urgent security warnings
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has issued a warning regarding electronic scams targeting banking and postal customers. Criminals are impersonating official institutions to trick victims into revealing personal information. These fraudulent schemes often involve messages asking users to update account details, click on suspicious links, or share photos of their bank cards. Attackers also actively seek to obtain one-time passwords (OTP) to authorize unauthorized financial transactions. The police emphasize the necessity of keeping sensitive data private and warn against interacting with unverified sources. If in doubt, individuals are urged to contact their financial institutions directly through official channels. The authorities also encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity or attempted fraud by filing a complaint with the appropriate security services.
