Automotive Industry: Algeria Set to Welcome Global Giants and Boost Local Production
During his visit to Oum El Bouaghi, the Minister of Industry announced that major global car manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Opel, Hyundai, and General Motors, are preparing to enter the Algerian market. This move follows the firms' assessment of the favorable investment climate and state-provided incentives. To support this, the government has identified 200 local subcontracting companies to be connected via a new digital platform to car makers. The minister also highlighted the launch of a 'single window' system this January, designed to streamline administrative procedures electronically. While inspecting industrial units in Aïn M'lila, he emphasized the necessity of improving product quality and local integration to lower import costs. The state remains committed to supporting manufacturers to build a robust, integrated national automotive industry.
