Spanish Civil Guard units have thwarted a major drug smuggling operation, seizing over 3 tons of hashish off the coast of Mazagon in Huelva. Eight suspects aboard a high-speed boat originating from the Moroccan Atlantic coast were taken into custody. Despite attempts to evade security forces through risky maneuvers and discarding fuel canisters, the vessel was intercepted with the help of a helicopter and a patrol boat. Authorities recovered 76 bales weighing a total of 3,040 kilograms, along with the boat, which was powered by four high-performance engines. The detainees face charges including drug trafficking and endangering public safety as legal proceedings continue.
