Gaza bakeries warn of shutdown within 48 hours amid food crisis
The Gaza Strip Bakery Owners Association has warned that all bakeries face closure within 48 hours due to the depletion of flour and other essential baking ingredients. This critical situation unfolds amidst ongoing displacement, continuous bombardment, and the approaching winter season. The warning follows the World Food Programme's announcement on October 19 regarding significant cuts to humanitarian aid. Due to funding shortages, the program has reduced its beneficiary count from 1.6 million to 1.1 million people, halved food rations for families, and cut the number of daily hot meals provided, further endangering a population that relies almost entirely on aid for survival.
