Weather alert in Algeria: Heavy rainfall and wildfires reported
On Saturday, October 24, a level 2 weather alert was issued for five eastern provinces: Béjaïa, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf, with rainfall expected to reach between 20 and 30 mm until 3 p.m. Numerous other provinces across the central, eastern, and southern regions, such as Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Sétif, and Constantine, are also under watch for thunderstorms. Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution, particularly near waterways and mountainous roads. In addition, the Civil Protection services reported 11 separate fires affecting vegetation and agricultural crops. While 10 of these incidents have been successfully managed, efforts are ongoing to contain a final fire in a palm grove located in the Biskra province.
