ARCIF 2026 Ranking: Algeria Leads Arab Nations in Scientific Publishing

Algeria has maintained its top position in the Arab world for the sixth consecutive year in the 2026 ARCIF scientific journal ranking, according to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The tenth annual report indicates that 425 Algerian journals met the ARCIF standards out of 1,303 qualifying Arab publications. Algeria also leads in the number of cited authors, reaching 31,554, reflecting a significant increase from previous results. Three Algerian universities—Kasdi Merbah University of Ouargla, Echahid Hamma Lakhdar University of El Oued, and Ziane Achour University of Djelfa—secured spots in the top ten Arab institutions based on research impact. The ARCIF index utilizes 32 international criteria and is governed by a board involving international organizations including UNESCO and ESCWA.
