Niger keeps fuel prices stable to support household living costs

The government of Niger, chaired by President Abdourahamane Tiani, has decided not to increase fuel prices, prioritizing the financial well-being of its citizens. During the October 9 cabinet meeting, officials reaffirmed the current pricing of 499 CFA francs for gasoline and 618 CFA francs for diesel, rates effective since mid-July. Despite ongoing supply challenges and the fiscal burden of fuel subsidies, the administration aims to ensure that natural resource revenues benefit the public. Furthermore, a new technical committee is being established to address structural issues in the supply chain and combat the illegal trade and fraudulent activities that contribute to market shortages.
