The wilaya of Chlef is targeting a production of over one million quintals of cereals for the 2026/2027 agricultural season. To support this goal, cultivated land has been expanded to 65,000 hectares, up from 60,000 hectares in the previous season. The agricultural authorities have confirmed that efforts are focused on providing necessary seeds and fertilizers to improve yields. Last season, the region recorded a harvest of 880,000 quintals with a yield of 25 quintals per hectare. Furthermore, the Chamber of Agriculture is urging farmers to utilize the "R'fig" credit facility to finance their operations. Training programs regarding modern irrigation techniques and the development of strategic crops like colza and sunflower are being prioritized across key municipalities to boost the region's overall productivity.
