Afghanistan is currently grappling with a severe food insecurity crisis affecting nearly one-third of its citizens. Recent data highlights that 12.5 million people are experiencing a food crisis, while 3.4 million are in an emergency state. It is estimated that over 4 million children will require medical treatment for acute malnutrition in the coming year. Although improved rainfall has bolstered agricultural production, significant economic pressures, including high unemployment, inflation, and limited purchasing power, continue to hamper food access. Factors such as border tensions with Pakistan, trade disruptions, and increased input costs due to conflicts in the Middle East further intensify the situation. Furthermore, the number of pregnant and nursing women in need of nutritional care is expected to rise by 7%, reaching approximately 1.27 million by 2027.
