France: Police disperse protests in Lyon amid nationwide demonstrations
French police deployed tear gas on Saturday in the city of Lyon to disperse protesters demonstrating against the rising cost of living in an area where protests are prohibited. The demonstrators had gathered near a university building and a police station, attempting to block the road. Meanwhile, the administrative court in Paris rejected an appeal from organizers challenging the route mandated by the police prefecture for this afternoon's march in the capital. France is seeing widespread rallies today involving the Yellow Vests, trade unions, and students who are demanding better purchasing power, the protection of public services, and social and tax justice.
