Istanbul has experienced its heaviest rainfall since records began in 1942, resulting in two deaths and significant infrastructure disruption. Governor Davut Gul confirmed that a 14-year-old boy died due to electrocution, while three others were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The severe weather caused the cancellation of approximately twenty flights and forced fifty others to be diverted. Several central districts became temporarily inaccessible, prompting authorities to advise residents living in basement apartments to seek higher ground. While the city faced widespread traffic congestion, metro services remained operational late into the night to help residents return home.
