The city of Aïn M'lila, in the wilaya of Oum El Bouaghi, is evolving into a promising industrial center for automotive components. Moving away from its traditional role as a trading hub for imported parts, the city has successfully transitioned to domestic manufacturing. During a recent visit, the Minister of Industry praised the region's significant progress, noting its emergence as a leader in mechanical subcontracting. The Wali of Oum El Bouaghi highlighted efforts to resolve investment bottlenecks and mobilize industrial land, specifically to accommodate major upcoming projects like tire manufacturing and lithium battery production. The region currently hosts 18 factories specializing in lubricants, filters, batteries, and rubber and plastic components, which satisfy a substantial portion of national market demand and export to African markets, with future ambitions to penetrate European markets.
