Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Sid Ali Khaldi, conducted a working visit to Timimoun this Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to assess the progress of the "BF Algeria" cereal and legume production project. This strategic initiative, a result of Algerian-Italian cooperation, covers 36,000 hectares in the Imguidene region. During his inspection, the Minister evaluated the installation of central pivot irrigation systems ahead of the 2026-2027 sowing season and checked the 17 MW power plant provided by Sonelgaz. Mr. Khaldi highlighted the project's role in strengthening food security and local development, urging stakeholders to coordinate with national research institutions. He also reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to providing the necessary technical support to ensure the project meets its economic and social objectives, particularly in job creation for local youth.
