Algeria's 2027 Finance Bill Targets 4.2% Growth and Consumer Price Stability

Finance Minister Mohamed Lamine Lebbou unveiled the 2027 draft finance bill, which projects a 4.2% economic growth rate, driven by non-hydrocarbon sectors including industry, services, and agriculture. Covering the 2027-2029 period and utilizing a reference oil price of $60 per barrel, the bill forecasts total state revenues exceeding 9.251 trillion DZD. The budget allocates significant funding for social support, including the creation of over 125,000 new jobs and subsidies for essential goods to stabilize costs. Key legislative measures include the extension of customs duty and VAT exemptions on food staples to safeguard citizen purchasing power. Additionally, the proposal supports the housing sector with interest rate reductions and promotes electronic payment methods to modernize tax collection.
