Algerian Parliament unanimously approves military deployment to secure investments in Niger
The Algerian Parliament, through both chambers, has unanimously authorized President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's decision to send a military detachment of the People's National Army to Niger. This deployment was initiated upon the request of the Nigerien authorities to provide security for Algerian investment projects, specifically those operated by the Sonatrach group. The vote followed constitutional procedures and was attended by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and high-ranking military officials. Members of the Council of the Nation emphasized that the mission is limited in scope and objective, focusing on protecting national economic interests in the Sahel region while upholding the state's sovereign commitment to safeguarding its assets abroad.
