Donald Trump has sparked significant backlash after publicly urging Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar to leave the United States and return to Somalia. During his remarks, Trump mocked the existence of airports in Somalia and repeated past allegations regarding Omar's personal life, while calling for her resignation from Congress. In response, Ilhan Omar highlighted serious security concerns, revealing that she has received death threats following the circulation of her home address. She characterized a recent FBI search of her Washington D.C. residence as politically motivated intimidation intended to suppress voters ahead of the midterm elections, directly accusing Trump of fueling the atmosphere of hostility against her. Ilhan Omar, who fled the Somali civil war at the age of twelve, has risen to become a prominent figure within the U.S. House of Representatives.
