November 28 Local Elections: Authorities Outline Campaign Regulations
The National Independent Authority for Elections has issued a reminder to all candidates, whether from political parties or independent lists, regarding the legal requirements for the campaign leading up to the local elections on November 28. The official campaign period will run from November 5 to November 24, 2026, with any campaigning outside these dates strictly prohibited. The authority highlighted the necessity of avoiding hate speech, discrimination, and the use of foreign languages. The use of public buildings, places of worship, or educational institutions for propaganda is banned, as is the misuse of state symbols or commercial advertising tactics. Media outlets authorized to cover the campaign are required to ensure equitable airtime distribution for all candidates. Additionally, candidates must adhere to designated billboard spaces and refrain from publishing opinion polls or voter intention surveys within 72 hours before the election date.
