Police authorities in Oran have intercepted a shipment of meat unfit for human consumption at two butcher shops in the Aïn Beïda area. The inspection was carried out in coordination with the trade department, local municipal authorities, veterinarians, and consumer protection representatives. Authorities identified severe violations regarding hygiene and storage conditions. Veterinary assessments confirmed the products were hazardous to health. These enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and prevent food poisoning. Notably, a similar seizure occurred last week in the Maraval district, where 200 kg of illicit meat were found in a garage. Despite state measures to combat such illegal activities, the issue of selling spoiled meat continues to pose a significant risk to citizens.
