Technical inspection operations underway for the Algeria-Italy gas pipeline
The British company Fugro has launched a comprehensive inspection of the 'Transmed' gas pipeline, which transports Algerian gas to Italy through Tunisia. The operations, which began on October 27 and are scheduled to last until December 15, focus on assessing the safety of underwater pipes off the coast of Sicily. Utilizing the vessel 'Calypso', technical teams are employing acoustic surveying tools and remotely operated underwater vehicles to verify the condition of the pipelines and their anti-corrosion protection. The port authorities of Mazara del Vallo have implemented strict safety protocols, requiring all passing vessels to maintain a safety buffer of at least 1,000 meters to ensure the security of the operations and the protection of the marine environment.
